Be careful where you park today, Firefighters in Anaheim just posted pictures of a car in front of a fire hydrant with the caption “Ever wonder what happens when a car is parked in front of a fire hydrant and a fire breaks out?”
Both back windows of the car are smashed out and the hose can be seen going through the back seat.
There was a bit of a backlash, with some people questioning whether they really needed to smash the car windows.
Others pointed to an example from the 1991 movie “Backdraft” where firefighters break windows to put a hose through a car.
Anaheim Fire and Rescue replied saying they posted this incident to illustrate and educate, and no they couldn’t go under, over, or around the car… the hose needs a straight line out of the hydrant. They insist they do not damage property unless it is needed.
So yeah, stay away from fire hydrants or you never know what your car will look like when you get back!
