Ovi Finally Got The Cup

It took a long time but Alex Ovechkin has finally won a Stanley Cup!  Alex Ovechkin was drafted first overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and ever since that day Washington Capital fans were hoping Alex could lead the team to the promise land.  It took 14 years but he did it, along with a gritty and skilled cast of characters they call The Washington Capitals.

Ovi has an amazing playoff and some say it’s the best hockey he has played in his career.  Alex Ovechkin set a Washington Capitals playoff record with 15 goals in 24 playoff games this year.  Alex is also the first Russian to Captain a Stanley Cup team.  On top of that Ovi picked up The Conn Smythe Trophy as the Playoffs MVP.

The Washington Capitals entered the NHL in 1974.  It took them 44 years to win it all and had only been in The Stanley Cup Finals once before back in 1998 when The Detroit Red Wings swept them in 4 games.

Kudos To The Washing Capitals and Alex Ovechkin.  They deserved this one!
