National Health and Fitness Day

National Health and Fitness Day was proclaimed by the City of Kingston
on the 4th day of April, 2018. Our goal, as the government legislature
states, is to celebrate National Health and Fitness Day annually on the
first Saturday of June. Canada wishes to increase awareness among
Canadians of the significant benefits of physical activity and to
encourage Canadians to increase their level of physical activity to the
best of their ability.

To promote equity in the community, this year we have chosen Shannon
Park, in Rideau Heights, as our location. We have not solidified all the
events to date, but the confirmed headliners will be the Chinlock
Wrestlers. All events for the day will promote free fun physical activity for all ages and
abilities including: circuit training for kids, outdoor story walk,
parachute play, pickleball demo, soccer demo, Police obstacle course,
skateboarding, bouncy castles, Tai Chi, Yoga, and Zumba etc. There will
be health and fitness related booths at the park, but no food will be
sold at the event. The City of Kingston will supply the Water Buggy.
