The Kingston Symphony’s ‘Herbert & Dvorak’ concert on Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts.
Exceptional cellist Ariel Barnes joins the Kingston Symphony for an absolute treasure trove of all things Cello.
In these afternoon concerts, Ariel will firstly perform Dvorak’s beloved Cello Concerto in B minor, the centerpiece of today’s focus on the cello. Filled with finely crafted melodies, remarkable drama, intensity, and intimacy, it’s one of the finest concertos ever written. In the second half of each concert, Ariel and the Kingston Symphony will perform Victor Herbert’s Cello Concerto No. 2. This composition, full of drama and romance, took the cello to new heights and is the piece we have to thank for inspiring Dvorak’s monumental ode to the cello. We present both concertos on April 14 & 15, making for what are surely to be outstanding and show-stopping performances.
