Easter Seals Annual Telethon

Easter Seals Ontario will broadcast its annual Telethon on YourTV. Airing from 12:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., the show will appeal to viewers and the community to come together to help raise funds to purchase urgently needed accessibility and mobility equipment for children and youth with physical disabilities.

The 4-hour fundraiser, hosted by media celebrities including Gord St. Denis and Vanessa at  PURE Country 98.3 and Maegen at Global Kingston with Monica at Fresh 104.3, will feature interviews with Easter Seals kids and families, sharing stories of what they have been facing and how they have been coping this past year. The Telephone number you can use to call to donate day-of is: 613.865.7200.

“It has been over a year that Easter Seals kids have been isolated due to their vulnerability of contracting COVID-19,” says Easter Seals Engagement Officer, Linda Clouthier. Both the kids and their parents are physically and emotionally exhausted from having limited, if any, access to in-person therapy, respite support, or social or recreational activities. The ongoing lockdowns, restrictions, and delays have meant there are still so many children living at home without essential equipment that would provide them with greater dignity as well as safety from injury for both them and their parents.”

With the majority of its in-person fundraising events cancelled or on-hold due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Easter Seals continues to be challenged in its ability to provide children and youth in this vulnerable sector with desperately needed support.

“This has been a difficult year for everyone, but for children with physical disabilities and their families the challenges have truly been extraordinary,” continued Clouthier. “We invite everyone to tune in to the Telethon, make a donation and help improve the quality of life for Easter Seals kids.”

Easter Seals would like to thank its generous sponsors including Empire Life, Beaudoin Construction Canada, Ontario Power Generation, YourTV, Taylor AutoMall, Exclusive Cooling Ltd., Colbourne & Kembel Architects, the Rotary Club of Kingston, and so many others.
