Patrick Pidgeon Memorial Fundraiser

For those that didn’t know him, Patrick Pidgeon, age 45 was a volunteer Fire Fighter who answered a call to duty on July 16, 2016, in response to a structure fire in Amherstview.  Patrick managed to save the family dog from the burning apartment but upon return to the burning structure, he became trapped and perished leaving behind a wife and son.

In addition to serving his community, Patrick was also a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, a decorated soldier who had served 1 tour in Bosnia and 2 tours in Afghanistan (Op Medusa 2006 as a member of the Infantry and Op Athena 2010 as a Military Police Officer)

Patrick’s full-time career was as a Correctional Officer with Correctional Services Canada where he had worked in maximum and medium-security prisons in both Quebec and Ontario

Patrick was a selfless individual who knew full well the struggles and challenges of being a front line worker in stressful situations.  To that end, his family has chosen to honour his memory by holding a fundraiser for the nationally registered Not for Profit organization known as Music Healing Veterans Canada.   This amazing organization helps front line workers from all branches of Military, Police, Firefighters, Corrections, CBSA, Paramedics and Nurses, etc. with the psychological challenges of their professions through the healing power of music.  Individuals will be given an instrument of choice and the opportunity to learn through instruction and group interaction.  For many, the objective is to learn to play as a coping tool but the “magic is in the group”.
